The LDC

Dear Colleagues,

John Davidson, Chair

Welcome to Lothian LDC’s new website.

We are the Lothian Local Dental Committee incorporating the General Dental Practitioners Sub-Committee and we represent the interests of the 553 GDP’s in the Lothian area.

The committee is made up of 14 representatives who stand on a three yearly cycle. We generally meet five times a year the meetings being held in the Royal Scot Club in Abercomby Place, Edinburgh. We are always looking for new members for the committee so if you are interested in joining please contact our secretary.

Our remit is to help GDP’s in the Lothians, in doing so we engage with NHS Lothian, the out of hours emergency service at Chalmers and the Edinburgh Dental Institute on issues such as patient referrals, practice inspections, audit and performance.

We are fortunate that on the Committee we have Dental Practice Advisers, Practice Inspectors, specialist orthodontists, BDA representatives and practitioners with experience in decontamination issues. We also have two members who sit on the Scottish Dental Practice Committee (SDPC), the national representative body of non-salaried general dental practitioners.

We feel that this broad experience enables us to properly represent Lothian’s GDPs.

Members who attend meetings during surgery hours are recompensed according to the British Dental Guild Rate. We can only do this with your help so please complete a voluntary mandate so that you can access the full service provided by Lothian GDP Sub-Committee.

Kind regards

John Davidson
