Visits to Care Homes for Non-Urgent Services – For circulation to Lothian and Borders

For the attention of all dentists in the practice

At present some care homes are controlling access to their facilities for non-urgent visitors.

However it is important from our perspective that all domiciliary visits for routine dental care by GDS dental teams, PDS dental teams and ‘enhanced skill domiciliary care practitioners’ to people in supported accommodation or in their own home cease with immediate effect.

Caring for Smiles training in residential units similarly should cease.

Also, home visits to families by Childsmile dental health support staff should also cease.

This is to minimise community transmission between our most vulnerable residents and dental teams.
