Plans for reopening and PPE

The Cabinet Secretary outlined in Parliament yesterday that it is expected that the Chief Dental Officer will work with dental teams to prepare for a phased introduction of dental services over the course of this month, making sure that plans are fully compliant with current COVID-19 guidance and safe for both patients and staff. As soon as further detail is available this will be shared with you.

In the meantime practitioners are encouraged to review the documentation from SDCEP in relation to reopening their practices. More detailed information will follow in the next few days in relation to the process that will require to be followed.

It is expected that a supply of PPE will be made available for practices to see a small number of NHS patients each day in one surgery. It is likely that arrangements will be made for practices to collect supplies from local stores in each HSCP area by appointment only. Again, once we know when the main stock is arriving the arrangements will be shared with you.

Any queries should be sent to Dental.Contract@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please continue to monitor the practice nhs.net account meantime.
